Nystalya is a flat square planet with a yellow sun that orbits it. It also has a flat moon (Nyr) that orbits around it too. Nystalya is one of the few plane planets that had civilizations on both sides of the plane.
This was the first sphere found by travelers from the Known Realm. It was completely abandoned when they found it. In fact no living thing was ever found on Nystalya by the explorers. The once great stone cities that doted the surface sat in silence. It was easy to see how this was once a thriving planet, however everywhere the explorers went they found nothing but huge empty stone buildings. Little to no artifacts were found as it was determined that whoever once lived here had plenty of time to gather their things and leave. The reason why they left however is more mysterious. Most beings from the New Realm have always remembered Nystalya being abandoned.
The cities had huge multi story stone buildings, beautifully carved and decorated. They were obviously space fairing and had many ports to prove this, although there is currently no water on the planet. Their grand quarrying must have led them to dig through the plane at some point in history, because they started building on the opposite side of the plane. Some large temple structures actually go all the way through from one side to the other to form one long building that pierces the plane.
No one knows who lived here, or why they left. They left no records, artifacts, statues or depictions behind. The only thing found on the planet for the most part is dirt and stone. The Dark side of the plane is covered in a layer of dark soot as though it was intensely burned. Needless to say most modern day posts are on the Light side of the Plane.
Since its re-discovery by those in the Known Realm, Nystalya has been reborn as a trading post between the realms. Select areas have been chosen to become trade posts. Ports on small lake beds have been magically filled with water once more to allow sea going vessels to land. The largest of the cities are still abandoned and even though everyone knows that nothing of worth is there, people still tend to be a draw to searching through the buildings.
Nyr: Though Nyr has an atmosphere, it doesn’t look like it ever had water or plants or animals of any kind. The barren rock is fairly smooth and the plane is almost perfectly square. Some believe it was created as a type of sun block. This seems strange since the sun revolves around the plane giving it a night and day. Others speculate that it was suppose to be an enormous shield to protect Nystalya from whatever scorched the Dark side of the Plane, but it was never completed.
